Foundations of Moving Meditation with Craig Barnes [October 2-3]

Please note: date change from printed newsletter. This workshop will be held on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3.

You can practice Tai Chi and Ba Gua for many different reasons, with many different goals: some people work toward vibrant health, others use these arts to fight, and still others focus on relaxation and meditation. If your goal is meditation, you must shape your practice in a particular way. Senior Instructor Craig Barnes will take you through some of these foundational shaping strategies on October 2 and 3.

Craig will focus on:

  • Grounding your energy, getting it out of your head and into your body
  • Integrating your energy as you practice
  • Stabilizing the mind while you move

Many of the techniques Craig will teach are drawn from the familiar physical mechanics we teach in regular classes. Craig will show you how to use what you already know to make a seamless transition from a health-focused practice to a meditation practice.

This material was introduced last June at BTC by Taoist Lineage Holder Bruce Frantzis. For those who attended Frantzis' workshop, this will be a solid review and progress check 3 months later. Even, if you did not attend in June, you are invited to this workshop, however, we recommend that you feel comfortable with the choreography of a moving practice like tai chi or ba gua so that you can focus on integration.
