Gao Style Bagua Zhang with Marcus Opalenik [August 15]

We are excited to welcome Marcus Opalenik back to Brookline Tai Chi for a workshop on Sunday, August 15. He has spent the last three years living and studying Bagua and Xingyi in Taipei, Taiwan under Bagua adept Luo De Xiu who has been his teacher for the five years . Marcus has been studying the Gao style system, which Bruce Frantzis studied with Hung Yi Xiang (Bruce and Luo De Xiu were classmates in the 1970s at Hung's school).

This seminar will be an overview of the Gao Style Bagua. Marcus will lead you through its circle walking and power training practices, as well as hand methods and the usage strategies of the post heaven palms.

We will also explore Bagua's unique training methods of Energy Power training or Chi Li Gung. This method is crucial to developing and mastering use of the fascia and joints in internal martial arts.

To cover this wide range of material, Marcus will divide the day into two main sections. In the morning we will focus on "Getting Power from Your Circle Walking". The afternoon session will cover the first in a series of "Straight Line Palms", their method and martial usage. You may attend either or both sessions on Sunday.
