Gods Playing in the Clouds

Gods Playing in the Clouds Chi Gung
October 3-7, 2009
with Bruce Frantzis, lineage master and teacher of BTC teachers

This is Bruce Frantzis’ first visit to BTC in two years. To take full advantage of the time, knowledge of the basic six Gods movements is strongly recommended as a prerequisite. Here’s an approach to help make the most of working with a teacher of Bruce’s caliber.

An important distinction to keep in mind when you study with a lineage master: there is the container, and there is the content. If you attend expecting to build a container, with intricate details and precise choreography, you will be confused and disappointed. But if you arrive with an open mind and a contained
already built, a teacher like Bruce can fill it up with content —more intricate detail and precision—that you wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

In practice, this contrast between container and content means that instead of learning that the arm moves from left to right in the third Gods movement, in this setting you will feel how the twisting of the arms that moves them releases your nerves—how you can actually begin to feel calmer as you move. You will get the most out of studying with Bruce if you make Gods—even a short set— part of your daily practice in the weeks preceding the workshop. If you need a tune-up, schedule a lesson with one of our instructors. Even a half-hour, just $35, can highlight areas to brush up on. By October 3-7, your body will be ready. During the training you won’t have to think about what to do but can concentrate on absorbing the new teaching Bruce is giving out.

At the workshop, beginners and intermediate-to-advanced students will form appropriate groups with different focuses. Beginners most likely will work on:

  • refining the physical movements
  • stabilizing your body’s energy
  • creating healthy body alignments
  • breathing
  • sinking and dissolving your energy

For more experienced practitioners, Bruce will emphasize:

  • lengthening the body’s soft tissues from the inside out
  • releasing and moving chi stored in ligaments
  • specific methods to open and close the body’s joints and cavities
  • increasing the flow of chi between the internal organs
  • sinking and dissolving chi, with coverage of specific channels and energy centers
  • energetic alignments
  • opening the energetic flow within the etheric body
