Early Spring Chi Gung Courses: Energy Gates and Heaven and Earth
During the Early Spring Session (February 27 - April 22), Dan Kleiman will be teaching two separate chi gung courses: Energy Gates with a focus on Standing and the Three Swings and a special subjects course on the Marriage of Heaven and Earth.
The Marriage of Heaven and Earth course is designed for people who already know the set, but want to refine it by focusing on spinal bowing and soft tissue wrapping.
In this video, Dan explains why Heaven and Earth is a great tool for getting some of the more subtle benefits of chi gung:
Special Evening Mini-Topic with Lee Burkins

On Thursday, June 23, from 7 to 9pm, Energy Arts Senior Instructor Lee Burkins will be teaching a one-night seminar on developing sensitivity through partner work. If you've ever wondered how the internal awareness you cultivate in your tai chi and chi gung practice can more directly be brought out into the world, this is an excellent opportunity to explore it with a talented practitioner and experienced teacher.
Heaven and Earth Classes are Expanding for Late Spring
Starting April 25, the beginning of the Late Spring session, Heaven and Earth Chi Gung classes are expanding and adding new times.
In addition to the current Friday and Saturday times (which remain unchanged for the two classes), Level 1 will now also meet on Tuesday from 8-9pm and Level 2 will also meet on Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm.
Heaven and Earth Courses -- New for Early Spring
This session we will be offering two new chi gung courses on the Marriage of Heaven and Earth. In our chi gung system, this set is associated with spring, because it is the time of year that things begin to bloom again and the practice is associated with stretching and opening the body. Each course is geared toward a different level of experience, so read the descriptions and let us know if you have any questions about which course is right for you.
New Classes for Late Spring 2010
"I don’t always want new information,” says a long-time student. ”Sometimes I just need a place to practice and some guidance in getting all this in my body.”
The comment shines a light on how BTC’s core tai chi and chi gung programs are developing. Our latest reconfiguring of classes balances teaching the fundamentals with helping students integrate what they are learning and cultivate their own practice.
