Chi Gung: Opening the Energy Gates

Introductory Course

In Opening the Energy Gates Chi Gung, while standing (or sitting) still, you learn how to slow down, feel your body, and use the energy of your mind to "dissolve away" tension and pain. You also learn healthy body posture and a system of movement methods that help you stand and sit more comfortably and move more smoothly and effortlessly.

In our introductory course, we introduce you to the standing practice, which can also be done sitting. You first learn how to generally relax your body and mind and then how to release your tension and strength down and out of your body. We also teach you healthy body posture as part of this exercise.

We also introduce you to the Cloud Hands exercise, through which you learn how to move your body, arms, and legs in a coordinated fashion while maintaining healthy posture. This exercise circulates energy through the deepest channels of your body.

The fundamentals of posture and letting go that you learn can help you in every activity that you do.
Those with hip, knee, and ankle problems in particular should consider taking this Chi Gung.
It is an excellent preparation for our Tai Chi and Ba Gua courses.

Intermediate Level 2: Dissolving, Cloud Hands, and Spine Stretch Courses

In the Dissolving course we teach you to add Outer Dissolving to your standing practice. In this technique you use the energy of your mind to "dissolve" blocked energy out and away from your body, as well as down your body. Outer dissolving is a very powerful technique for clearing places in your body where you feel tension, contraction, discomfort, or pain.

In the Cloud Hands course we teach you intricacies of the Cloud Hands exercise, especially how to move from and through your legs.

In the Spine Stretch course you learn the Spine Stretch, which helps you to completely relax the muscles of your back, neck and shoulders and teaches you to feel, release and move each vertebra of your spine.

Intermediate Level 3: The Energy Gates and the Swings

In this three-session course you learn the locations of and practice dissolving the Energy Gates of the body.

You also learn the First, Second, and Third Swing exercises. These swings energize and relax your hips, neck, shoulders and arms.

The First Swing opens the chi of the “lower burner” of the body - the legs, hips, and pelvis, and the intestinal, urinary, and reproductive systems.

The Second Swing energizes your “middle burner,” including your spleen, liver, and stomach.

We'll also teach you the Third Swing, which energizes your "upper burner," including the lungs, heart, and brain.

Intermediate Level 4: Subtle Alignments and Tissue Turning

In this six-session course we'll explore subtle alignments in the legs, torso, and arms, including the five rings of the legs.
You'll also learn how to move your body by turning the tissues of your legs and arms.
