Ba Gua: Palm Changes
Level 2 – The Single Palm Change
We begin to explore Ba Gua more deeply by learning two variations of the Single Palm Change, the first and most fundamental of the Ba Gua Eight Palm Changes or methods of changing direction.
We offer four Level 2 courses:
* Circles – You begin to develop Ba Gua's dragon body with a circular turning of your hips toward the center of the circle while you walk and change direction. We also teach you a Ba Gua chi gung exercise which involves circling the arms to release your neck and shoulders as you walk. Through this exercise we teach you the Single Palm change walking posture.
* Single Palm Change – We teach you how to perform the Single Palm Change, especially emphasizing twisting of the upper arms and forearms. This twisting releases your elbows and relaxes and strengthens the muscles and tendons of your upper arms, forearms, and hands.
* Water Single Palm Change – We teach a flowing, coiling version of the Single Palm change designed to loosen your neck and shoulders.
* Fast Palm Changes – Learn how to perform the two single palm changes at top speeds to invigorate your body and mind.
Level 3 – Reverse Single Palm and Double Palm Changes
In these six courses we explore another version of the Single Palm Change and the Double Palm Change, the second of Ba Gua's Eight Palm Changes or methods of changing direction.
Level 4 –Form Refinements and Advanced Physical Mechanics
This course has an open format. In each class, the instructor uses the time in whatever manner he and the students feel will most benefit the students’ Ba Gua. He will teach more advanced versions of form movements, two-person practices, meditation practices, and advanced physical mechanics principles.
